Global Partnership Establishes Rosetta Stone as Exclusive Language-Learning Solution for World's Largest Sports Federation
ARLINGTON,VA (October 13, 2014) - Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE: RST) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) today announced a new partnership that aims to break down language barriers that exist between athletes and referees in this global sport. As the new, official language-learning partner of the FIVB, Rosetta Stone will provide its trusted language-learning solutions to the referees and staff of the FIVB with the goal of helping all referees become proficient in the English language.
"How effectively our players and referees communicate during matches is critical to the success of our sport," said Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, President of the FIVB. "Language diversity has significant impact on how we're currently playing the game. We knew we had to find a solution and Rosetta Stone was the clear choice as the industry leader."
Volleyball has experienced unprecedented growth over the last decade, and the FIVB is the largest sporting federation in the world with 220 member federations. As the governing body responsible for all forms of volleyball on a global level, the FIVB upholds the highest standards and took great care in selecting Rosetta Stone as its exclusive partner.
"Volleyball has quickly become one of the most popular sports worldwide and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to help address the need for language learning in the international sports arena," said Eric Ludwig, Senior Vice President and General Manager for The Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Rosetta Stone. "The power of language to unite people from all over the world is really amazing. Not only will we make a significant impact on how the game is played, this partnership will impact how fans around the world experience matches, as well."
As part of this two-year partnership-which officially kicks off in January 2015-Rosetta Stone will enjoy prominent brand visibility at all major international FIVB events, including the Beach Volleyball World Championships, World League Finals, World Grand Prix Finals, World Cup and the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. Additionally, Rosetta Stone will work with the FIVB to design and supply Rosetta Stone-branded uniforms for all FIVB referees and the company will supply two language licenses to all National Federations of the FIVB. Athletes, fans and FIVB member federations will also be able to take advantage of special offers to purchase Rosetta Stone solutions. Social media will also factor into the partnership as the FIVB and Rosetta Stone will work together to create unique and innovative ways to engage and activate their online communities.
The partnership further expands Rosetta Stone's well-known footprint in the world of sports, as it is currently the language-learning provider of choice for various U.S. sports teams, including the National Football League's Arizona Cardinals and Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals, and many athletes worldwide.
