Fit Brains Introduces First Ever Comprehensive Emotional Intelligence Training Program

(Thomson Reuters ONE via COMTEX) --Fit Brains Introduces First Ever Comprehensive Emotional Intelligence Training Program

New holistic approach to brain health combines cognitive and emotional intelligence training

ARLINGTON, VA (November 16, 2015) - Fit Brains, a leading cognitive brain training program from Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE:RST), today announced updates that include a groundbreaking emotional intelligence training function. Of the nine games added to the popular Fit Brains Trainer app, three will be dedicated to improving self-control, self-awareness and social awareness. Emotional intelligence refers to important qualities such as perseverance, self-control and people skills.  With these additions, Fit Brains now offers a more holistic approach to brain health, taking brain training to a new level.

An established leader in the rapidly growing brain training field with more than 18 million users worldwide, Fit Brains is the first online and mobile brain training app of its kind to combine cognitive training with emotional intelligence.

"Containing millions of neurons, the brain maintains a sophisticated cognitive neural system that enables our memory, language, appreciation of space, and other higher cortical functions," said Dr. Paul Nussbaum, award-winning Clinical Neuropsychologist and a co-founder of Fit Brains. "The brain also maintains an equally complex emotional system, and emotion has historically received less attention than the cognitive counterpart."

Studies show that emotional intelligence is an increasingly important characteristic needed to be successful in every area of life1. Additionally, emotional intelligence training is linked to stronger and healthier relationships, improved health and lower stress levels, better decision-making skills and higher salary potential2. Decades of research show, 90 percent of top performers in the work force display higher degrees of emotional intelligence2.

By focusing on three key areas of emotional intelligence, the new Fit Brains can boost the ability to be more in-control of emotions, help recognize others' emotions to improve relationships and avoid acting on impulse.  Users will be able to hone in on these skills through the "emotional combination", the "mood matcher", and the "color control" games.

Both existing and new games on the updated Fit Brains app help boost cognitive skills such as memory, concentration, focus, speed of thinking, language and visual-spatial recognition. With the addition of the emotional intelligence games, Fit Brains now encompasses the most comprehensive offering on the market for those looking to improve or maintain brain health, which is especially important to baby boomers seeking to keep their minds sharp.

"Active brain training exercises can be very helpful to baby boomers," Dr. Nussbaum said.  "Brain plasticity, meaning the brain if exercised can generate and stimulate new cells, is a fact. Using Fit Brains for 20 minutes a day, three days a week promotes brain health at any age."

He added, "It is our emotional system that breaths passion into our lives, causes us problems when not controlled, evokes our happiness and misery, and attaches to our experiences in life so they are never forgotten. We need to focus more on our emotional system and develop better means of measuring and nurturing our emotionality."

The new Fit Brains app featuring emotional intelligence training is available on iOS and can be downloaded for free through the App Store. The original version of the program is also available cross-platform on Android, online and on Apple TV.
