(Thomson Reuters ONE via COMTEX) --Teachers Take Center Stage as Rosetta Stone Launches National Teacher Advocacy Program
New Initiative Aims to be Both a Resource and Sharing Platform for Teachers and Educators
ARLINGTON, VA (November 19, 2015) -In response to comments from educators nationwide regarding a need for effective resources and best practices to support blended learning, Rosetta Stone (NYSE: RST) announced today the launch of a new initiative developed to support K-12 teachers with edtech collateral and services that enhance instruction in today's language-learning classrooms.
Anchored on the concept that "Language Creates Stories Worth Sharing," the web-based program was developed to engage World Language, ELL and special subject teachers in a new online community created specifically for them, and encourage them to share their experiences and resources with their fellow educators.
"Teachers play a pivotal role in the decision making process when it comes to language curriculum, and the success of any implementation rests on teacher engagement and a deep understanding of the product," said Judy Verses, President of Global Enterprise & Education divisions. "With more and more school districts realizing how beneficial Rosetta Stone is in supporting language curriculum, 'Language Creates' was developed to ensure teachers can learn from each other and use our language learning solution to deliver exceptional outcomes for their students."
The centrepiece of this initiative is an informative and engaging microsite developed to be both a resource repository for teachers, as well as a platform for them to share success stories and best practices. Featuring a myriad of resources for implementing technology into K-12 language learning classrooms, the online platform includes pre-recorded webinars; a Teacher Ambassador Program, where teachers can share student success stories; a Teacher Tuesday blog, showcasing posts from our nation's educators; and Tips for Teachers, highlighting proven methods and resources on integrating digital language learning programs into a blended classroom.
Sheila Smith, a high school Spanish teacher from Kennewick School District in Kennewick, WA said, "My English Language Learners are thriving using the Rosetta Stone program, as they are able to work at their own pace and achieve the next level. This program, in conjunction with the speaking and writing activities I am implementing, addresses the four areas of language acquisition: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Within just a few short weeks, my new students from several different countries are communicating with confidence."
