(Thomson Reuters ONE via COMTEX) --Rosetta Stone Continues Expansion Into Education Technology for Kids,
Launches New App to Give Children an Early Edge in English and Spanish
Lingo Word Builder picks up where the company's first hit kids app left off
ARLINGTON, VA-November 12, 2013- Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE:RST), a leading provider of education technology solutions, today introduced Rosetta Stone® Kids Lingo Word Builder, a new Spanish language learning and English reading app for children ages 3-6.
Rosetta Stone® Kids Lingo Word Builder expands on the phonics foundation established in the company's very successful Lingo Letter Sounds app, which rose to number two on the list of most popular kids apps in the Apple App Store earlier this Fall. The new app supports the Common Core Curriculum standards for Kindergarten, reinforcing early English reading skills while also introducing Spanish speaking in a lively, engaging way.
Optimized for devices in the iOS ecosystem-including Apple's iPhone and iPad-Lingo Word Builder incorporates Rosetta Stone's pioneering speech recognition technology tuned specifically to kids' voices and speech patterns. In Lingo Word Builder, children select and drag letters to make real words and send the loveable GoGo Lingos characters flying through the animated landscape to collect toys. The interactive app also includes a Parent's Corner, where kids' progress and usage patterns can be monitored.
"Our first kids app was extremely well received by both children and their parents, and Lingo Word Builder is a terrific sequel," said West Stringfellow, Rosetta Stone's Chief Product Officer. "With our first kids app we proved that very young children can absorb language and literacy lessons when they're presented in a fun way. Lingo Word Builder takes that approach to the next level by building on verbal skills and introducing a broader vocabulary."
Following the recent acquisition of children's reading technology company Lexia Learning and the introduction of several groundbreaking mobile learning solutions, Rosetta Stone is continuing its expansion deeper into language and beyond, bolstering its position as a leader in today's education-technology movement. The company's cloud-based learning products are used by millions of individuals and thousands of schools, businesses and government organizations around the world.
Rosetta Stone® Kids Lingo Word Builder is available for free in the Apple App Store. Download it now at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rosetta-stone-kids-lingo-word/id715257898?mt=8.
