Rosetta Stone Taps Social Media to Spotlight Growth of Language Learning in the U.S.

National contest will leverage user-generated content to promote educational opportunity and cross-cultural connections

ARLINGTON, VA (September 30, 2014) -Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE:RST), the world's leading provider of technology-based learning solutions, is turning to its customers and the millions of Americans interested in learning a new language to help inspire cross-cultural connections. Launching online today, the Go Places with Language contest calls for participants to submit their personal videos into one of two categories: "Language Learned Using Rosetta Stone," which will tell the stories of people who have used their new language skills to pursue exciting adventures and new endeavors, and "Want to Learn Using Rosetta Stone," which asks participants to explain why they want to learn a new language and how it could impact their lives. The winners in each category will receive $2,500, a six-month subscription to Rosetta Stone and a Kindle Fire.

Online submissions will be accepted through November 6, 2014 via and videos should be two minutes or less. Rosetta Stone will select 20 finalists, ten in each category, based on how well they fit the contest theme, creativity, originality, video cohesiveness and video quality. Those videos will then be featured in an online gallery from November 11-21 and two grand prize winners will be determined through an online public vote. Winners will receive $2,500 to help fund their next big adventure, a six-month Rosetta Stone Subscription and a Kindle Fire. 

In addition to the two grand prize winners, the remaining 18 finalists will each receive a six-month Rosetta Stone subscription and a Kindle Fire. Twenty-five participants will also have the chance to win a Kindle Fire for taking part in the public vote or sharing the contest details with others.

In conjunction with the contest, Rosetta Stone has launched Rosetta Stone Learner Stories, a new video series and playlist on its YouTube portal that highlights the personal journeys of individuals who have chosen Rosetta Stone to attain language proficiency and showcases how language learning changed their lives. The current videos will also be featured on the Go Places with Language  contest page and provide inspiration to contest participants.
